And if you’re in Louisiana, that’s especially true, as you are lucky enough to have a diverse body of sports centers within driving distance. The Lambright Sports and Wellness Center is technically part of Louisiana Tech University, but don’t let that stop you: It’s facilities are open to the public for a small fee. The amenities are plentiful, and include two three-court basketball gyms, two fitness areas, a six-lane bowling alley, an outdoor pool, steam rooms, billiards, saunas, and more. In addition, you’ll find a rock wall, everything you’d need to set up a paintball arena, and all the aerobics and weights you could ask for. Whether you’re a student, alumni, or a member of the Ruston community, consider the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center to get your game on.
The mission of Chappapeela Sports Park is simple: “To provide the finest recreational facilities and programs while offering an exceptional family environment.” To those ends, the sports park offers adult and youth co-ed softball, men’s softball, flag football, pickle-ball and more. The facilities include football fields, soccer fields, baseball and softball fields, and walking trails, as well an indoor gymnasium and several outdoor playgrounds. Lake Charles Ward 3 Recreation Center is a sports facility designed to “establish, acquire, construct, improve, extend, and maintain recreational parks and facilities for the benefit of all citizens.” They provide fitness, sports, senior, and youth programs, in addition to summer camps and swimming lessons. Youngsville Sports Complex styles itself as “Louisiana’s Premier Sports and Recreational Facility.” The complex offers a wide variety of sports programs, including youth and adult softball, soccer, and tennis, as well as youth baseball, tee ball, basketball, pickle ball, and volleyball. The complex boasts six soccer fields, four softball fields, five baseball fields, and seven batting cages, with concessions stands, pro tennis shops, and other amenities galore.
Mandeville Sports Complex in Mandeville, Louisiana, provides the surrounding citizens with easy access to a fitness center, pool, and gymnasium. Interested in cheerleading? The Shreveport Athletic Center is known for its classes, competitive teams, birthday parties, after school programs, spring break day camp, summer camps, and Friday Night Fun events. Classes include gymnastics for five and up, pre-school gymnastics for 18 months to three years, and cheer tumbling classes, also for five and up. The Big Easy Sportsplex in Jefferson, Louisiana, offers Zumba classes and is home to the Sportsplex Baseball Academy. The Ivanov’s Gymnastics Academy is a new addition. Day rates are available, as are team rates for batting cages, indoor and outdoor fields, and the volleyball and basketball courts. The Little Sluggers program is perfect for kids 6 to 7 years-old who are interested in being introduced to baseball. Other programs for 2 to 7 year-olds are available, too.
The Leaps and Bounds Sports Center in Denham Springs, Louisiana is a complex designed to foster potential in each child that comes in.
