I escort people from around the world to Destrehan Plantation as a guide for Gray Line. It is such a beautiful place with so much history. I often hear gasps of surprise when they first see the stunning building. The plantation guides are great at sharing the history of the place in a way that makes it relevant today, while telling the stories of those who lived in the mansion, and those who made it possible. They bring history to life. One nice extra is a truly great gift shop, a real find for visitors seeking beautiful and meaningful keepsakes of their visit. Destrehan is truly a place not to miss when visiting New Orleans.

Our tour guide was wonderful! We went during a holiday weekend and it was not very crowded. The tours allow for lots of questions, and our guide was very knowledgeable. After the tour, you can use the map they give you to explore on your own. There were plenty of signs to guide you as you explored the grounds, but as we ran into our guide later, he was more than happy to give you a more in depth take on what we were looking at. Also, we bought tickets online and on our way there we missed our exit, we called and the staff was very accommodating and fit us in with the next group. Parking was also very convenient.

Visited New Orleans for the first time last week, and had an AMAZING time. I love the tour and our tour guide was very informative. I took plenty of pics and soaked up as much history as I could. My only concern/question is why isn't there any person(s) of color apart of the tour staff? For me that would have made my experience that much greater. Other than that I had a great time and would recommend this piece of history to anyone looking to visit New Orleans.

I loved this plantation. Excellent living history demonstration. Super convenient location close to the airport and it's so worth it to stop there on the way home. It might not be as fabulous as some of the other plantations but the smaller size makes it easier to see if you're short on time. I loved the historical aspects, the demonstration of building methods from 100s of years ago and the document signed by one of the founding fathers. There is also very detailed history of the slave rebellion which was very informative.

This was one of the best historical tours we've done. There is a lot of rich history about the area that revolves around the house and property. The tour is worth the price. They have a little scavenger hunt paper for the kids to help keep them interested during the tour, which my kids enjoyed. Also lots of fun and unique gift items in the gift shop. It was probably one of our favorite outings this trip so far.
