Mission:

The mission of Central Lafourche High School is to develop in all students a strong sense of courage, leadership, honesty, and success through first-rate learning opportunities.

About Us:

Central Lafourche High School, a consolidation of the former Raceland High School and Lockport High School, was established by the Lafourche Parish School Board in 1965, as a three-year, co-educational senior high school built at a cost of almost 2,000,000.00. The school became a reality with the 1966-1967 school session. Until the building was completed, the school was housed in temporary facilities on the campus of the former Lockport High School. The Ninth Grade and Pre G.E.D./Skills Option Programs were added to the Central Lafourche Curriculum in 2001-2002 school year.

Central Lafourche High School holds the philosophy that the nature of education requires acknowledgment of the dignity and worth of the individual. The faculty and staff of Central Lafourche High School are dedicated to the attainment of that premise. We recognize that each student possesses certain potentials, traits, and interests which require development to varying degrees of perfection. Opportunities for such development are afforded the student so that he will be a well adjusted person mentally, physically, socially, and morally. We firmly believe that the student will attain powers of thought, reasoning, and judgment based on his own experiences, on what he learns and experiences of others, on his recognition of his responsibilities to himself and to society, and on his growth in the ability to interact with others. To think logically, to learn to express himself clearly, and to become a useful and responsible citizen, the student needs to develop learning skills. To accomplish this, the school fosters an atmosphere of friendly cooperation among administrators, teachers, students, and parents.

The Central Lafourche High School faculty seeks to use all resources available in assisting each student to solve intelligently the many problems with which he is confronted on academic, vocational, and social levels. Through appreciation of his American heritage, his cultural background, and recognition and use of his own potentialities, the student should become a resourceful and a contributing member of society.
