Bayou Segnette State Park

7777 Westbank Expwy.

Bayou Segnette State Park offers the best of everything. Just a thirty-minute drive across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, a multitude of recreational opportunities awaits visitors of all ages -- boating, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, picnicking, playgrounds and, of course, swimming in the wave pool, as well as an ecosystem that offers you the chance to spot plants, trees and wildlife from both swamps and marshland.

Both salt and freshwater fishing are available because of the park's unique location. From the boat launch, you may explore many areas not readily accessible by overland routes. Catches of bass, catfish, bream, perch, redfish and trout are common in the area.

On land, picnic areas are available for the whole family, and the playgrounds will delight the children. Group shelters are also a perfect spot for large groups to gather.

After you have splashed the day away in Bayou Segnette's popular wave pool or skipped across any one of the adjacent waterways by boat, you will be glad you took the time to sit back and watch nature at play--for the wildlife is abundant and the vegetation worth closer study.

Our family has camped here a few times and we really like it. Some draw backs however. One is the pools are only open Thursday-Sunday which kind of sucks if you like camping more through the week like we do. Plus that's pretty much the most you can do there. They have a couple parks and all that but it's not that great. The best part is the wildlife. There are so many bunnies, cats, and we have even got to see some armadillos and a turtle once. Have yet to see an alligator tho I am told they have some. So I'm still waiting. The other draw back is that sometimes its kind of difficult to back your camper up because the drive is so narrow. Even with some regular vehicles it can be a challenge to get in and out(especially out). Other than that it is a very pretty place to stay and the pricing is good. The bathroom facilities are generally kept pretty clean and the fact they have free laundry is a bonus for sure.

Overall it's not bad it's just that they don't have sewerage hookups and I HATE DUMP STATIONS!! Also the park rangers can be ass wipes with the 5 and 15 MPH speed limit. C'mon man really?!?! Both of those issues cause me to give it two less stars. Other than that it is the safest, closest and most economical RV park in the New Orleans Metro area. I do recommend the place if you are passing through. Just be aware of those two things!!

Arrived at Bayou Segnette at exactly 2:27 according to my parking receipt the park was closed due to lightning in the area at 2:45. We literally were in the pool for 10 minutes then asked to get out. Now I understand that there were to be no refunds, no exceptions, even due to weather. However, i was NOT made aware that even after the skies were back sunny and rain was all gone the manager had sole discretion on if he or she wanted to open the pool again. It rained hard for roughly 30 minutes then all rain clouds were gone the sun was back shining. So we should have had another 2 hours for my kids to play in the wave pool, however the manager decided not to open the pool (obviously not due to any safety concern) so we were completely out of luck.... I am very disappointed in wasting $90 for my family of 5 for 10 minutes in the wave pool.

Great state park, it was $30 night for a site with electric and water. They have facilities with restrooms, showers, and Free laundry. We had a great time here. Dog friendly
