Toyota Quick ‘n’ Dirty
The Toyota Quick ‘n’ Dirty Boat Building Contest is a two-day fun-filled festival in and of itself. The teams bring a Mardi Gras feel to the festival by picking outrageous themes, naming their boats and costuming for the parade to the river. “Lords of the Tchefuncte”, and “Reigning Clowns” are two examples of names past crews have used. First, Second and Third place trophies are given as well as special trophies for “Best of Show”, “Shipshape Award” and “Subsurface Cruiser”.
We’ve designated an area that’s all about kids! Arts, Crafts, safe and simple science experiments, music, plays and fair-style games – fun for kids young and old! Plenty of seating, shade and snack options for moms and dads.
In addition to a fun schedule of entertainment at the Rooster Town Pavilion, there are lots of other fun things to do at Rooster Town:
Hands-on Aquatic Robotic Demonstration
Hungry? You’ll find hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, nachos, pizza, and frozen treats. Thirsty? We’ve got that covered, too!
Kid’s Boat Building
Kid’s have a great time at the Wooden Boat Festival, and they can build their own wooden boats as a FREE take-home souvenir. The dedicated St. Tammany Woodworkers Guild, whose members spend all year making the pieces and parts used to assemble these boats, will be assisting the kids as they design and create their own vessels.. Watch your child’s eyes light up with glee as they become the Captain of their own ship!
